Recipe for making red velvet cookies:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. You can use a handheld mixer or a stand mixer for this.
4. Add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture and beat well. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
6. Fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped pecans (if using) into the cookie dough.
7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft. The cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.
9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Once the cookies have cooled, you can enjoy them right away or store them in an airtight container for later.
That’s it! You have now made red velvet cookies. Enjoy!
